QUICK SHEARS – a shearing competition for the shearers of today (individuals and teams).
In the old days, shearers competed with each other to be the fastest in the shed – to shear the most sheep in a day or over the week. At first the tools of the trade were blade shears, so the strength and finesse of the shearer’s hand opening and closing the blades was the key to taking off the wool.
Then mechanised hand pieces became the norm, combs and cutters the way to shear – the early power tools of the shearers’ trade.
Who will be the fastest TOK shearer?
