HOW TO GET HERE
Barcaldine is located in Central West Outback Queensland on the intersection of the Landsborough and Capricorn Highways. The most nearby towns are Aramac, Blackall, Longreach and Jericho.
You can get to Barcaldine in many different ways – by car, train, bus or plane. Barcaldine is fully accessible via bitumen roads, but off-road enthusiasts have plenty of options to travel via the back roads.
One important thing to remember when travelling around Barcaldine – mobile phone coverage is through Telstra.

Travelling by Air
QantasLink services Barcaldine. There are flights on Tuesday and Thursday into Barcaldine, on a loop departing from Townsville, which connect with QantasLink flights in Longreach. Please be aware when flying in to Winton that the Airport is located 5km from the town, so be sure to organise an airport pick up. Winton does not currently have a taxi service, so ask at your accommodation provider if they would be willing to provide a pick up service. An alternative to flying directly into Winton is to take the daily QantasLink flight from Brisbane to Longreach, where there are several hire car companies available including – Avis and Budget.

Travelling by Rail
If you are planning on leaving the car at home, you can travel on the Spirit of the Outback rail journey. Rail services depart Brisbane twice weekly and travel up the East Coast to Rockhampton, then travel inland to Longreach, stopping at Barcaldine onroute. The Spirit of the Outback services depart Brisbane on Tuesdays and Saturdays, returning on Mondays and Thursdays. The rail journey between Brisbane and Barcaldine takes 24 hours.
